Bio
2012 was been an amazing year for The Buachaills. Since their first gig in Cheers Bar ,Fermoy on New years day the lads have played over 120 gigs all over Ireland and further a field.
The lads first came to prominence after they supported The High Kings in June , winning over fans of all generations with their unique take on classic ballads and modern folk songs .
The band who have been described as Planxty, The Dropkick Murphy’s and Mumford and Son’s all rolled into one, have become one of the most wanted acts in the country.
The summer was a busy period with many festival appearances including The Rhythm Fest and Castlepalooza where they won the RTE John Murray Show new band of the year.
Without doubt the highlight of 2012 was the All Ireland Football final where The Buachaills had the honour of playing in front of 83,000 people.
In October the lads had a chance to meet one their hero’s when theY supported Finbar Furey and got the chance to play a few tunes with the great man.
A German tour in November earned many new fans to their infectious brand of folk.
To quote the UCLA’s campus newspaper The Daily Bruen “Nothing can quite replace the experience of seeing this band live. The bandmates on stage play faster, louder and less restrained when they have an audience dancing in front of them. The band’s reverence for the musical style of the past meshes with the members’ musical style to create a set of songs that really doesn’t sound like anything being produced in the United States at the moment.”
