Bio

Joe Monks repertoire merges classic songs from the great American songbook, along with contemporary hit material from the last three decades and right up to today’s hits, performed with fastidious authenticity, and a genuine affection for the original artists.

Cutting his teeth on the live circuit over the last three years, Joe honed his craft initially with the unique vocal group “The Velvet Tones”, an old school close harmony quartet, performing to sell out crowds at Dublin’s prestigious Farmleigh Estate, and private functions nationwide.

Joe was singled out by reviewers praising his uncanny Dean Martin soundalike ability, as well as his almost chameleon ability to fit his vocal seamlessly to the artist he’s interpreting.

He left the group in 2013 to pursue a solo career, to (as he says himself) “broaden & expand my growing repertoire”. Having held a Friday night residency in Dublin’s Submarine Bar for over a year and having played hotels, bars an restaurants all over Ireland, The resulting show makes for a unique night of entertainment. Recalling the compelling charisma of the classic “rat-pack” Vegas era, enhanced & bolstered with a cannon of classic hits, and delivered with a style and panache, worthy of the material. It’s “not unusual” to find entire audiences singing along at the top of their lungs at one of Joe’s shows, and let’s face it, that’s a rare ability in performers on the circuit today .. and a unanimous endorsement of his vocal talents.
