RESTAURANT MAGIC
David has had continued success as the resident Magician at Limerick’s Marco Polo, Jasmine Palace and Chocolat restaurants since October 2013.
What is restaurant magic?
The unique concept of restaurant magic has been very popular in the United States and U.K for over 30 years.
The Jasmine Palace Group are the first restaurant chain in Limerick to provide their clients with this dynamic and professional approach to restaurant entertainment.
Performing close-up magic in the restaurant environment can make for a unique and memorable dining experience.
Key points:
* Very little space is required
* No sound or lighting restrictions
* Creates a fun atmosphere
* Shows that your restaurant is willing to go the extra step for repeat business.
Magic is performed at the clients table upon arrival as a welcoming ice-breaker as they are waiting for the starter course to arrive.
The absolute best time to present magic at the restaurant table is after the main course ie. during dessert, tea/coffee or even over cocktails.
The patrons have had a chance to experience the beautiful surroundings, exquisite food & beverage menu and now they are treated to a professional magician leaving them with an unforgettable experience.
The magician can also be a great ambassador for the restaurant and his job is to work alongside the wait staff to leave a lasting impression on the guests to ensure that they will return to the restaurant in the future.
WEDDING MAGIC
“The big day for you and your special someone has finally arrived. No doubt you are deeply excited about tying the knot and hoping that you have a wedding day to remember and cherish for many years. I would like to say congratulations and wish you both all the very best in your future together”.
David Walsh, wedding magician
Performing at a wedding reception is by far my favorite thing about working in the entertainment business having the opportunity to share my style of magic with your friends and family while bringing them together in a way that is both a lot of fun and unforgettable.
Wedding magicians are becoming more popular all the time, simply because the entertainment value that a professional magician can provide for your guests is something that is truly unique. The beauty of close-up magic is that it gives the audience a chance to be in the spotlight, to be less of a spectator and more of a participant. There is no other form of entertainment that can create such a moment of astonishment for someone at such close quarters. This I believe is why magic when performed correctly can be so memorable.
Timing is everything. It’s all about the delivery as they say and this is certainly true when performing at weddings. The secret is to know how to open to a table of people, whom you have never met, have them like you and what you do and leave them wanting more. This is the winning formula for success.
You can choose from the following options:
Option 1 Reception
When the guests arrive at the hotel to have pre-dinner drinks and photographs taken they are usually in groups of two to five people. So my job is to entertain the crowd at the reception and bar area before dinner begins. Magic can be the perfect ice-breaker in this setting and helps people to relax and have fun.
Option 2 Table Magic
Table hopping magic is also a popular choice at weddings and it consists of close-up magic being performed during the dinner i.e. before main course and during dessert. The approach is a little different as the groups are usually around 8-10 people and I entertain each table individually, however the emphasis is as always on creating a fun atmosphere for the children and the adults.
Please note that you can combine both options together if you wish, the choice is yours.
CORPORATE EVENT MAGIC
t was once said to me that in business, “you are only as good as the staff you employ.” Corporate entertainment is a serious business and event management companies demand the best for their clients, hiring the right photographer, the perfect sound technician and of course finding first-class performers.
Everyone plays a role in the success of an event and we are essentially ambassadors for the companies who hire us.
The U.S.P (unique selling point) of hiring a magician for your next corporate function is simply the personal touch and versatility that this unique type of entertainment provides.
A few ideas
Strolling magic at reception before a corporate dinner or presentation
Alternatively, table hopping magic between courses
Performing on stage to warm the crowd before a speech
Incorporating a company message, concept or logo into the magic
Performing exclusively at a table for a themed event i.e. fun casino night.
I have discovered through my years of experience that the key to success as a magician in the world of corporate entertainment is to understand the type of event you are working for and to tailor the comedy and magic to suit your audience. Every event is different and I have always adapted my approach accordingly, for example performing at 21st birthday parties, corporate fundraisers for Pieta House or a family day out in Áras an Uachtaráin for President Mary McAleese and guests. The most effective way to give the best service is to listen to what your client wants.
“If you want to be successful, it’s just this simple. Know what you are doing. Love what you are doing. And believe in what you are doing.”
~ Will Rogers, American entertainer.
PARTIES
Strolling magic at a Birthday party, Christmas party or any themed event can be very effective in helping to create the atmosphere that helps put people in the right mood for fun through bringing the entertainment right to their group or table. In particular, close-up magic is unique in that it happens almost exclusively in the hands of the spectator allowing maximum impact and engagement with the audience. Close-up magic also has a reputation for being slick and stylish, so hiring a magician for your next event may just be the icing on the cake for your family, friends and guests.
