Bio
Singer/songwriter Ray Dunne is originally from Athy, Co. Kildare and now lives in Armagh.
Ray began his career at the age of 15 playing gigs in his hometown and further afield with the band Seanchai.
At 21, Ray moved to Portugal where he played solo gigs on the Irish circuit in the Algarve before heading to Liverpool.
It was in Liverpool and the North West of The UK that Ray established himself on the Irish Circuit. It was at this point that he regrouped with local musicians and recorded his first EP "Sing Away" in 2004. In 2005 he recorded his second EP "A Sense of Reality" in Parr Street Studios. The EP received great reviews and it was from here he went on to record his debut album "Amidst Bright Shadows" before returning back to Ireland to promote it.
In 2008 Ray released the single "Nothing Left to say" off the album and did a nationwide tour across Ireland. The tour gained great reviews and Ray received a lot of media attention performing on the country's leading radio stations. It was also the same year where he played at Glastonbury to a packed tent.
In 2009 Ray was one of the headline acts at City of Song Festival in Derry and he also performed at the Playhouse theatre. He has since performed at the Liverpool Irish Festival.
Ray is now working with The Rustic Vandals (a local Armagh band) and they are currently recording new material. He joined with the Armagh Rhymers in 2011 and he has performed to audiences including a TV appearance on RTE's Nationwide along with a tour across the UK from Glasgow to London, and more recently The Baltic States.
He is currently promoting his album and writing new material with his band. With a national tour in the pipeline and a new music video "Ireland my Ireland" in the process of being released, Ray Dunne is a name to keep an eye out for in the coming months.
