During my school going days I am sad to say I had absolutly no interest in Miss Crotty's Computer Class ! It all got off to a bad start when I developed a habit for pasting Tipp-Ex on the monitor everytime I made a spelling mistake.
I was banished to the back of the class where upon I fell into the seedy underworld known as "The Tractor Club". Here we sat talking about JCB diggers and drawing pictures of Ford 7610's.
In the mid 90's I thought I was saved from the technological wilderness when I started courting a young lady whom worked for a large computer firm. For a while it was good-bye floppy disc and hello hard drive, but that floated away like a stick in the Slaney !
Since then I have been performing my music all over the country, and further-a-field, and now find it necessary to relate it to the world via my new website.
So enjoy your visit and leave the key under the mat when you leave !
See you down the road,
Liam Byrne

Biography

Liam J. Byrne, (the J is for Jesus !), was born on July 9th 1973. The youngest of three, I followed my sisters, Elizabeth & Caroline into the world. We lived on a farm near the village of Ballygarrett in Co. Wexford.
My first memory of performing is when I was five or six and took to the stage at the Senior Citizens weekly get-together to sing a song that had something to do with a rabit! Since then i have never looked back, but the rabit got the mixer and passed on ! During the summer of 1991 I met a local musician who promised to teach me a few chords on guitar. The following year I played my first gig in Boggans Bar, Co. Wexford. My fee was £15 plus sandwiches. That musician was a man called Rob Weldon. He and I became great friends since then and are often seen in the local Public Houses for what we call "Busines Lunches" !
Being a solo musician I found myself performing a lot of songs by made famous by another great influence on me, Christy Moore. His style of singing, playing, and the humour of his shows appealed to me and in 2000 I began to tour Ireland performing my "Ordinary Man, A tribute to Christy Moore" show. This show has taken me all over Ireland performing at the top festivals, finest venues, and nearly all the main colleges and Universities. It has also allowed me to perform some of my self penned songs to a larger audience and has proven to be a great spring board for songs like 'Roy Keans Dog', 'Golden Boats', and 'Living in a field in Avoca'.

I have two albums under my belt. The first "On this Road" (1999) contains 12 self penned tunes. It was received well but was produced on a very small budget. I hope to re-record some of the songs from this album at some point in the future.
In 2003 I released my second album, "Golden Boats". This one contained 14 songs, 8 self penned and 4 covers. The CD was produced to reflect the Christy tour which I was performing and contains a lot of humour with songs like 'All theWickhams', 'Roy Keans Dog', 'Christy's Black Vest', and 'Living in a field in Avoca'. It also contains songs that show another style to my voice, 'Forest Road', 'Golden Boats', and 'The Forgotten' (a song about the plight of AIDS sufferers in Africa).
